who are we?

Jesus defines who we are as children of God - members of God’s family, brothers and sisters in Christ.  How amazing is it that we are sons and daughters of the one true God? Jesus, God’s son, is the one who gave everything for us so that this could happen! He is also our example and He is at work in us through the Holy Spirit, shaping us to become more like Himself.  He is the Good Shepherd who gave His life in service and sacrifice for us - His sheep. Because of what he has done for us, we seek to follow His example in life.

We seek to rely on God for everything we do, trusting Him in the good and bad times. We desire to be welcoming to others no matter the history that comes with them. We keep seeking opportunities to connect with others in all walks of life. We work towards doing life together, having fun, helping and caring as the needs arise. We long to serve others with the skills God has given us naturally and supernaturally. We enjoy providing each other with opportunities to serve in a variety of ways. The Bible encourages us to love and care for each other within Shepherd’s Heart Faith Family and for those in the wider Church. We are challenged to love and care for others who are not yet followers of Jesus, even those who may be unpopular or who may not agree with us. We seek to help others in their faith journey towards Jesus or with Jesus and encourage others to follow Jesus as a disciple and witness.

What does Shepherd's Heart Value?

SHEPHERD’S HEART CHURCH

VALUE STATEMENTS

Our values are based on the teaching and example of Jesus Christ because we esteem him as our Lord. They include the following.

 HEART FOR THE GATHERING

We place an uncompromising value on gathering corporately each week, boldly celebrating Jesus and declaring what he has done. God tells us to do this and it is our heart reflection of his love for us. (Hebrews 10:24-25)

 WALK ACROSS THE ROOM

We consistently leave our circles of comfort and extend hands of care, compassion and inclusiveness to reach people who need God's love. We are concerned about where people will spend eternity. (Colossians 4:2-6, Matthew 9:37-38)

 SERVING OR SWERVING?

We value the power of serving. We are called to use our gifts and talents to serve God, so if we are not serving we are swerving from His plan for us. Saved people serve people. (Matthew 20:26-28)

 HUNGRY? EAT WITH JESUS

We value truth, the Bible as God's word, prayer and worship and take personal responsibility to "Feed Ourselves" each day.  We use what God is blessing us with and allow the Holy Spirit to lead us in a growing, overcoming life that honours him. (Revelation 3:20)

 EMBRACE THE JOURNEY

We have never arrived, and we will passionately continue to lead change in each other by changing ourselves. Change is constant, and we will continue to work to win people for Jesus and grow the Kingdom of God. (2 Corinthians 3:18, Romans 12:2)

 LIFE IS BETTER TOGETHER

We value being a part of smaller groups. Human beings were designed for authentic community and belonging to a smaller group grounds us, helps to build our lives, care for each other and do life together. (John 13:34-35, Acts 2:42-47)

 WHATEVER IT TAKES

We value effort and commitment in all areas of church life. Doing our best brings glory to God and attracts people far from God. Giving our best is the least we can do. (Colossians 3:23-24)

 WE GIVE HONOUR

We freely give honour to those above us, beside us and under us because of the calling and potential God has placed inside of them. (Matthew 7:12, Romans 12:9-10)

 WE ARE BLESSED

We are blessed to be a blessing. Generosity is a lifestyle Jesus modelled and we will be radically generous in the use of our time, talents, finance and our approach to life. (Proverbs 11:25-26, Matthew 5:16)

 SPEAKING HOPE

We will lift up the hope, victory and salvation that Jesus brings, rather than using our voice to condemn. We will speak hope and life over people. There is no judgement and no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1, Jeremiah 29:11, 1 John 5:4)
